Day 5 facilitator guide: Weekly progress check
Before class
Give students the Day 5 student page only, with paper for reasoning. Do not show the teacher key. The public repository’s key is not a secure test bank; use the check as low-stakes classroom evidence. It is not an official or adaptive TSIA2 test.
30-minute facilitation
| Minutes | Facilitation |
|---|---|
| 0–2 | Explain that this measures four taught skill groups. Ask students to work independently and show a setup. |
| 2–20 | Students answer Q1–Q10. Allow established accommodations; record unfinished items as blank. |
| 20–27 | Collect or photograph first attempts through an approved school process, then return work for corrections. Review one common error per skill group as time allows. |
| 27–30 | Students select one skill for next week’s retrieval and describe one corrected mistake. |
The 18-minute work period is a classroom pacing choice. It does not model TSIA2’s official timing or adaptive scoring. Permit a later completion opportunity rather than treating speed as mastery.
Skill map
| Items | Skill | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Q1–Q3 | Percents | 3 |
| Q4–Q5 | Linear equations | 2 |
| Q6–Q8 | Slope and linear representations | 3 |
| Q9–Q10 | Comparing linear models | 2 |
Award one point per correct selection. Keep written reasoning for diagnosis and record corrections separately; do not overwrite the initial score. Each incorrect option has a diagnostic explanation in the teacher key.
Instructional follow-up
- Inspect missed items and the four daily exit tickets together.
- Give a short reteach on the most frequent error, then a new parallel item.
- Students who answer all items correctly explain a model or solve the extensions; they still need later-week geometry, statistics, probability, and nonlinear algebra.
- Recheck a taught skill after a delay. Do not label a student officially TSI-ready based on 8/10, 10/10, or any other local threshold.
